FILTRATION BY GRAVITY

WVO is generally collected in 5 gallon containers. In a gravity filtration system, the WVO is simply poured into a filter bag placed over a container into which the WVO is collected.

The most commonly used bags for gravity filtration and sizes are as follow

For prefiltering to remove large particles, we recommend nylon monofilament bags in Size #1 or Size #2. Prices and sizes are as follows:

For final filtration by gravity, polyester felt bags nominally rated at 1 or 5 microns also in sizes #1 & #2 are most commonly used.
